Maximizing the Last 10 Days of Ramadan

Every moment of Ramadan is priceless, and we should not let it pass without earning rewards from Allah SWT. The last 10 days of Ramadan are even more valuable than the first twenty days. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “Allah’s Messenger used to exert himself in devotion during the last ten nights to a greater extent than at any other time.” (Muslim).

The Prophet (peace be upon him) also said: “Whoever prays during the Night of Qadr with faith and hoping for its reward will have all of his previous sins forgiven.” (Bukhari and Muslim, narrated by Abu Huraira).

  1. Take a Vacation for Allah

We take breaks from work for significant events in our lives. Ramadan is a time for blessings and salvation. Consider taking a break from your job to focus on worshiping and thanking our Creator.

  2. Do Itikaf

Our beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) used to spend the last ten days of Ramadan in the mosque for Itikaf. Itikaf involves cutting off worldly connections and devoting time to zikr, salat, and reading the Quran. While it is sunnah to perform Itikaf for the last ten days, you can also do it for fewer days or even one night if time is limited.

  3. Make This Special Dua

Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said: "I asked the Messenger of Allah: ‘O Messenger of Allah, if I know what night is the Night of Qadr, what should I say during it?’ He said: ‘Say: O Allah, You are pardoning and You love to pardon, so pardon me.’” (Ahmad, Ibn Majah, and Tirmidhi).

  4. Recite the Quran

Spend time reciting the Quran, as there are many virtues associated with it. Increase your Quran recitation in the last days of Ramadan to maximize your spiritual rewards.

  5. Reflect on the Meaning of the Quran

Ramadan is a time when we often draw closer to the Quran. Use this opportunity to deeply reflect on its meanings and learn from its teachings. Implement what you learn in your daily life.

  6. Get Your Sins Wiped Out

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “Whoever stands (in prayer) in Laylatul Qadr with faith and self-evaluation, expecting reward from Allah, will have all of his previous sins forgiven.” (Bukhari and Muslim). Pray deeply and meaningfully, especially during the last nights of Ramadan.

  7. Evaluate Yourself

Use this time to ask yourself important questions about your life and deeds. Reflect on your good actions with gratitude and seek forgiveness for your mistakes. This self-evaluation will bring you closer to Allah SWT.

  8. Attend the Dua After Completing the Quran

In many masjids, the Quran is completed in Tarawih prayers during the last days of Ramadan. Make sure to attend the dua after completion and bring your family to these gatherings for added blessings.

  9. Finish Reading a Book on the Prophet

Learning about the life of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) is essential. Read about his life to deepen your love for him and Islam. Strive to follow his footsteps in every aspect of your life.

  10. Create a To-Do List for Laylatul Qadr

The Night of Power (Laylatul Qadr) is better than a thousand months. Prepare a checklist of good deeds to perform on this night. Organize your activities in advance to make the most of this blessed occasion.
